Club member Scott Martin stepped into the breach  at the last meeting when the official speaker  pulled out at short notice because of illness. Scott based his talk on the building of the new Wembley Stadium and as a member of the Board, he gave details of the difficulties encountered, its cost overruns and late delivery before, showing the world class multi-use stadium that eventually emerged.
He had a number of pictures of the stadium under construction and a remarkable video showing how the stadium can cater for a football match one evening and a music entertainment the next, setting up the facilities needed for an event on the pitch.
The  bowls season finished on a high note with a victory over Atherton Probus by 64-61, their ninth win of the season in 25 matches. Ken Ackroyd beat Jim Flett in the final of the annual bowls handicap competition winning 11-2.
The fist winter Bridge and Supper event will take place on Friday October 20 at Knutsford Golf Club, where the golfers meet Tatton Probus on October 12.
The Club holiday next year will be in York from Sunday September 23 to Friday September 28.
