At their first meeting of the year  Rex Probus members paid tribute to George Tyror, President and former Secretary and Chairman, who died in late November. Roy Slack described George’s long and distinguished career in the nuclear power industry. On  his retirement in 1993 Mr Tyror joined the Club and later he helped to form the Tatton Probus Club. He was awarded an OBE in 1999.

The first social event of the year will be a visit to Tabley House  on Tuesday March 7 when there will be a guided tour of the house and its collection  of art and furniture. It was also announced that the Club’s UK holiday this year will be to the Hill Valley Golf Hotel and Spa near Whitchurch in Shropshire from October 1-5.

The Discussion Group met on January 10 with the subject “Brexit, the Judges and Democracy”. The next meeting will be on February 7 when the subect will be “Have the Unions Passed their Sell-by Date ?”. The Bridge section meets  at the Knutsford Golf Club on February 24 while the AGM of the Club  will be held on February 23 followed by lunch.
