Professor Ian Morison (correct) gave an absorbing and enthralling talk on the history of Jodrell Bank at the last meeting. Professor Morison has been connected with the project for over 52 years and has seen its development from before the large radio telephone was built.
He took the members through a fascinating trip down memory lane covering the development of radio astronomy at Jodrell Bank and its involvement in so many world headline news events concerning sputniks, pulsars and quasars.
The speaker at the next meeting on 27th April will be Dr Simon Le Frenais and his topic will be “Darwin”.
The Club’s Summer Lunch will be held on Wednesday, 7th June, while the Discussion Group will have “globalisation” under the microscope when they meet at the Whipping Stocks on Tuesday 2nd May (7.30).
